The CAPPA 20 Hour Lactation Educator™ Training
Ready to become more proficient when offering breastfeeding education? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Lactation Educator™ with CAPPA. This twenty-four-hour workshop meets the first requirement of your CLE® program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to improve the skill base, knowledge, and perspectives on breastfeeding for perinatal professionals. Additionally, this course supports both the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and Mother Friendly practices as well as providing training for those seeking certification as certified lactation educators™ with CAPPA.

This course helps train professionals to offer breastfeeding/chestfeeding support, information and education. It is not an IBCLE exam preparatory course, nor does attendance in this course or certification as a CLE® qualify a professional to perform lactation evaluation, assessment, or diagnosis for lactation related conditions. Requirements for virtual training:

Terms & Conditions
1. I understand that there are no refunds. In an emergent situation, a request to transfer to another course offered only by Mom’s Treasure Chest may be made to be utilized within 12 months, upon approval. A $50.00 transfer fee will be required.
2. I understand that I should not make non-refundable travel reservations until Mom’s Treasure Chest has confirmed the workshop 30 days prior to the course.
3. I understand that the training can be cancelled at any time prior to course date with advanced notice (ex: low attendance, Natural Disaster, unforeseen circumstances, accident, family emergency or illness of the instructor) and that my registration and payment will be transferred to another training within 12 months of the original course registration, the no refund policy for registration, travel, lodging or other accommodations still applies.
4. I understand that I must pay for my training in full at least 30 days prior to the training to ensure there are adequate supplies for me and to avoid the $50 late fee.
5. I understand that I will need to complete a few homework assignments prior to the workshop.
6. I understand that I must be ON TIME every day of the training, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
7. I understand that I must be at least 18 years old to get certified as a CAPPA Lactation Educator.
8. I understand that I must be a CAPPA member and join CAPPA Academy to certify in as a CAPPA Lactation Educator, should I choose to certify. (You can obtain membership in this registration or at www.cappa.net ) I understand that fees for the CLE or LE(C) are separate.
9. As a participant of this training, I agree to allow Mom’s Treasure Chest/CAPPA to do the following: Publish my name, address, phone number, and email address for the trainee class list & referral list.
10. I agree that Mom’s Treasure Chest can take photographs of the training which may include me, as well as allow the trainer and CAPPA to use these photographs for promotional purposes online and in print.
11. I understand that I may not record the training workshop (audio or video). I may take photographs only with the express permission of the trainer and the participants.
12. I understand that this course is NOT an IBCLC exam prep course nor does attendance at this course, or certification as a CLE qualify a professional to perform lactation evaluation, assessment, or diagnosis of lactation related conditions.
13. I understand that I may not photograph any PowerPoint slides, training materials, certificates of completion, or any other intellectual property belonging to CAPPA or my trainer. I may not reproduce, publish or distribute any materials in the manual.
14. I may not reproduce, publish or distribute any certification materials, other than for the purpose of fulfilling my certification requirements (i.e. copying the evaluation forms for my clients to fill out).
15. I understand that this course is only the first step in becoming a CAPPA Certified Lactation Educator. There are several other steps that must be completed by the student after the training in order to be eligible for certification by CAPPA and that this training does not guarantee Certification.
16. I understand that I must complete the entire course to receive a certificate of completion.
17. I understand that in the event of hazardous weather/travel issues, Acts of God, or National Emergencies, a makeup option will be made available. Mom’s Treasure Chest is not responsible for expenses related to weather issues, including but not limited to airfare and hotel.
